Our PCBA year is off to a great start.
Anyone who went to the Diversity Luncheon on September 18th had to be impressed with Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx. Her life story, and the journey from Cabrini Green housing projects to the State’s Attorney’s office gave us all reason to reflect on what are we doing to make this a better community.
Chris McCall and Melodi Green, Diversity Committee Chair and Co-Chair, and their entire committee deserve congratulations for the program they delivered. We can hope that the rest of our programs are as effective and well-received. Don’t you wish you were there?
The CLE Committee is presenting a double-barreled CLE program on October 14th, two programs in one day. Ethics in the morning, protection remedies in the afternoon. Make sure to attend one or both! There is no better way to get your CLE than PCBA.
Planning for the Lincoln Banquet is moving ahead, and we are awaiting confirmation from a speaker that we think will fill the room. Make your plans to attend now – although the date is still somewhat in flux depending on the speaker’s availability, we’re planning on returning to the event’s longtime home at the Pere Marquette. Judge Perkins will have more news for us soon.
Finally, the Holiday Party Committee worked hard to keep the ticket price for the December 12th event at last year’s level, but alas, they failed. The price is going up a single dollar! Be sure to attend, and join in the fun. Judge McCuskey is going to lead a roast of John Nicoara, a.k.a. Vinny, and Matt Smith will again do his special brand of stand up. Get your Joe Peschi mask now, practice the accent and join in roasting, and toasting one of our local favorites.
We’ve got a great start on this year – let’s keep it going!
